My Story
I absolutely love swimming, and try to swim as much as possible. At the moment, for me, that means at least 3 times a week half a mile each time.
When Fresh Visions reached out at work and asked for people to participate in events to help with their fund raising Swim Serpentine caught my eye. I really love a challenge and swimming the 1 mile will be exactly that for me, a challenge. Its double what I am used to swimming and I am determined to complete it. Not only for my own achievement, but also to raise money for Fresh Visions who provide so much support in our local community.
I would really appreciate any donation you can spare, it will not only motivate me with my swimming challenge, but it would also be contributing to the following services;
Fresh Visions supports children, young people and adults who face extreme disadvantage as a result of poverty, domestic abuse, lack of education and social exclusion.
They operate in some of the poorest neighbourhoods in the UK.
Their projects help people gain control of their lives by developing the confidence, motivation, and skills to achieve their potential and build brighter futures.
The services they offer are:
Thrive – Our domestic abuse counselling service: Working in the community and women’s refuges across Kent, Thrive provides trauma informed counselling to men, women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.
Motivate - An after school youth club targeting 10-16 year olds. The programme supports young people to gain confidence, make informed healthy lifestyle choices and progress into further learning and employment.
Build Yourself - Build Yourself is a young person’s development programme, targeting 17-28 year olds across Sussex & Swale. The project allows young people work in teams completing makeovers on community buildings over the course of six weeks, they get the opportunity to learn practical painting, decorating and DIY skills from a trained professional and also gain an accreditation in the form of a CSCS card (Construction Skills Certificate Scheme) to help them into employment.
Intouch - Intouch is aimed at people over the age of 55 who are living alone in Optivo housing or part of the surrounding neighbourhood. We provide a range of health and wellbeing initiatives and providing employment support to combat isolation and loneliness in these areas.
